Second Restoration is in Progress

Most of these photos are from the original restoration that was completed in 2005. A second restoration, with higher quality wood, is far along but requires additional labor beyond the current owner's means.

All timbers have been replaced with new white oak. One quarter of the boat has been replanked with 2 layers of old grove western red cedar and the remaining planking lumber is included in the sale. Besides planking, the remaining work to make the boat seaworthy is limited to sealing the new planks with paint or epoxy, installing deck trim, detailing the mast and rebuilding one hatch.

All of the equipment to operate the boat is included. Deck hardware, mast, boom, hatches and sails are included. The boat comes with a Ford Dorset diesel engine, Paragon transmission, a tank that carries 100 gallons of fuel and a three-blade feathering prop.

Mitena is ready for transport and will travel easily by road to US destination. The owners have previously shipped a 6-metre to an international location and are able to create a cradle for shipping. The current owners are willing to consult with a restoration team on the rebuild, installation of fittings and rigging to successfully get the boat sailing again.
